Newlywed Woman Dies After Speeding Bike Hits Activa on Shilaj Canal Road

A 28-year-old newlywed woman died after a speeding motorcycle allegedly rammed into her Activa on the DPS Canal Road near Madhav Advait Complex in Shilaj on Thursday night. The woman, who had married just two months ago, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment, police said.

The accident occurred on September 11, when the woman and her husband were returning home after attending a garba class. The couple were travelling on separate two-wheelers when the motorcycle allegedly hit the woman's Activa while she was crossing the road.

The impact was so severe that the woman was reportedly dragged for around 10 feet along with her vehicle. The motorcycle rider allegedly abandoned the vehicle at the spot and fled. The entire incident was captured on CCTV, following which the Bopal police registered a case and launched an investigation.

Couple Were Returning Home After Garba Class

According to police, Hardik Darji, a resident of Bopal and a professional choreographer, currently conducts garba classes at Blooming Camp in Science City.

Hardik had married Nishiben, a resident of Vastrapur, around two months ago. On September 11, after the garba class ended, Hardik left for home on his motorcycle while Nishiben followed separately on her Activa.

When Nishiben was crossing the road near Madhav Adhvait Complex on DPS Canal Road, a motorcycle allegedly approached at high speed and collided with her vehicle.

Woman Dragged 10 Feet in Impact

The collision caused Nishiben to be thrown and dragged for nearly 10 feet, leaving her with serious injuries to her head and other parts of her body.

Hardik and other passers-by rushed to her aid and shifted her to a hospital in an injured condition. However, she succumbed to her injuries after a brief period of treatment.

Rajasthan-Registered Bike Abandoned at Spot

During the preliminary investigation, police found that the motorcycle involved in the accident was registered in Rajasthan.

Police said the rider and the pillion passenger were allegedly working as domestic help. The motorcycle was left behind at the accident site after the crash.

The rider was also reportedly injured in the accident and admitted to a hospital. Bopal police are now taking steps to secure his custody and are investigating the circumstances leading to the fatal crash.

CCTV Footage Helps Police Probe

The entire accident was captured on CCTV cameras, providing police with footage of the collision.

Based on the CCTV footage and preliminary investigation, police have registered a case and are examining the role of the motorcycle rider and the circumstances surrounding the accident.
