Narol Police Arrest Man With Mephedrone, Cannabis And 650 Tablets Worth ₹1.17 Lakh

The Narol Police have arrested a 33-year-old man and seized mephedrone, cannabis and hundreds of tablets allegedly being kept for illegal sale, with the total value of the seized contraband and other articles estimated at ₹1.17 lakh, police said on Friday.

The accused has been identified as Nashir Khan alias Sanjay alias Mansik, son of Naseem Khan Pathan, 33, a resident of Suhananagar in Narol. Police said he was arrested after Narol Police Station staff allegedly recovered the contraband from premises occupied by him in the Narol area.

According to police, 31 grams of mephedrone, commonly known as MD, valued at ₹96,000, was seized from the accused. Officers also recovered 128 grams of cannabis, valued at ₹6,400.

In addition, police seized 300 Alprazolam 0.5 mg tablets, valued at ₹725.80, and 350 Pregalab 300 tablets, valued at ₹8,645. Police are investigating the source and intended use of the medicines.

Cash, Mobile Phone And Packaging Material Seized

The seized material also included empty plastic bags allegedly used for packaging mephedrone, a mobile phone, ₹3,750 in cash and a Torrent Power electricity bill.

The total value of the seized property was calculated at ₹1.17 lakh.

A case has been registered at Narol Police Station under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.

Accused Has Previous Criminal Cases

Police said the accused does not have a previous criminal history relating to narcotics offences. However, their records show that he has previously been booked in several cases at Narol and Vatva police stations.

The cases include offences registered under the Gujarat Prohibition Act, the Indian Penal Code and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, as well as cases involving rioting, assault, criminal intimidation and other offences.

Police records also show that preventive action under the Gujarat Prevention of Anti-Social Activities Act (PASA) was taken against him in 2022 and 2024.

Police Probe Alleged Drug Supply Network

Investigators are questioning the accused to determine the source of the mephedrone, cannabis and tablets, as well as whether he was allegedly supplying the substances to others in Ahmedabad.

Police are also examining the mobile phone and other material seized during the operation to establish possible links with suppliers and customers.

Further investigation into the alleged drug supply network is under way.
