A 22-year-old electrician was brutally assaulted with a sword and wooden batons when he stepped in to settle a dispute between his friends during Navratri festivities in Naroda late on 13 October.

Raj alias Macchi Patni, who works as a solar panel electrician, was leaving his residence at Chitrakoot Awas Yojana around 10 PM to play Garba when he received an urgent phone call from his friend Nainesik. Nainesik alerted him that another mutual friend, Raj Nai, was locked in an escalating fight near Block 40.

Upon arriving at Block 40, Patni found Divyanshu alias Bandu Ravat and Raju Yadav physically assaulting Raj Nai. When Patni stepped between them to break up the scuffle, both attackers turned their aggression toward him, hurling verbal abuse.

As Patni objected to the profanities, the altercation quickly spiralled out of control. Raju Yadav’s associate Kuldeep Bhadoriya and nephew Mohit rushed to join the fray, taking Yadav’s side and physically overpowering Patni.

Hearing the commotion and screams, local residents rushed to the spot, intervening to pull the attackers off the victim.

Patni’s father summoned a 108 emergency ambulance and rushed his bleeding son to the Asarwa Civil Hospital Trauma Centre. Doctors treated Patni for severe head injuries requiring three stitches and confirmed a fracture in his right wrist.
