Naroda Assault Case: Man Gets 5-Year Jail Term For Assaulting Two Sisters Over Activa Horn

A city court has sentenced a 45-year-old man to five years in prison for assaulting two sisters and allegedly hurling sexual slurs at them in Naroda in 2023.

Special Additional Sessions Judge B.H. Dhasura convicted Hiteshkumar Raval under provisions of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and imposed the five-year sentence.

The incident took place on October 4, 2023, when Kajal Kashvakar, a resident of Sumangalam Society near Sardarnagar, Naroda, was riding home on her Activa with her sister Pranjal sitting pillion.

Horn Sparks Roadside Assault

According to the case, Raval, a resident of Khodiyar Park in Naroda, was walking in the middle of the road when Kajal sounded the scooter's horn.

The accused allegedly became angry and threw a water bottle at the scooter, causing Kajal and Pranjal to fall.

The prosecution said Raval then physically assaulted both sisters and hurled sexual slurs at them.

Pranjal reportedly remained unconscious for two days following the assault.

Prosecution Examines 19 Witnesses

Following the incident, Sardarnagar police arrested Raval and registered a case under various provisions, including the Atrocities Act.

Police later filed a charge sheet, leading to the trial before the court.

During the proceedings, Public Prosecutor B.R. Patni presented 19 witnesses and 20 documentary pieces of evidence to establish the prosecution's case.

After considering the evidence and witness testimonies, the court found Raval guilty and sentenced him to five years in prison.
