Mephedrone Worth ₹28.19 Lakh Seized in Ahmedabad, Three Arrested

The Detection of Crime Branch, Ahmedabad, seized 939.81 grams of mephedrone, allegedly worth ₹28.19 lakh, and arrested three men after intercepting a car at Hanspura crossroads in Naroda on September 11, police said.

The accused were identified as Aslam Mansuri, 29, Imran Mansuri, 28, and Shejad Mansuri, 22, all residents of Mandsaur district in Madhya Pradesh. Police also named Imran Pathan alias Lala, a resident of Mandsaur, as the alleged supplier and said efforts were underway to trace him.

Crime Branch Intercepts Honda City at Hanspura Crossroads

Crime Branch officials received information that three men travelling in a black Honda City from Mandsaur towards Ahmedabad were allegedly carrying drugs. Acting on the information, a police team was deployed near Hanspura crossroads.

At around 4.38 am, officers spotted the Honda City approaching from the Dehgam side. The vehicle was stopped and its three occupants were taken out for questioning.

Drug Consignment Allegedly Hidden in Three Parcels

During a search of the vehicle, police allegedly found the contraband concealed in three separate parcels. A forensic officer conducted preliminary tests at the spot, which allegedly indicated the presence of mephedrone.

Parcel A contained 198.01 grams of mephedrone, valued by police at ₹5.94 lakh. Parcel B contained 344.32 grams, valued at ₹10.32 lakh, while Parcel C contained 397.48 grams, valued at ₹11.92 lakh.

Together, the three parcels contained 939.81 grams of mephedrone, which police valued at ₹28.19 lakh.

Phones, Cash and Car Among Other Items Seized

Apart from the suspected drugs, police seized three mobile phones, ₹1,080 in cash, identity cards, a petrol pump receipt, a tobacco-filled bag and the Honda City used for transportation.

The total value of all the seized items was estimated at ₹31.35 lakh, police said.

Alleged Supplier in Mandsaur Named, Search Underway

During questioning, the three accused allegedly told police that the mephedrone had been supplied by Imran Pathan alias Lala in Mandsaur.

According to police, the accused allegedly collected the parcels from Pathan, concealed them in Aslam’s car and travelled to Ahmedabad to deliver the consignment to a person as instructed by him.

Police Probe Wider Drug Supply Network

The Crime Branch has registered a case under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Police are now investigating the alleged role of Imran Pathan and identifying other persons who may have been involved in the supply, transportation and intended distribution of the drug.
