Mastermind’s Wife Held with ₹25 Lakh Cash in Ahmedabad Robbery Case

The Krishnanagar Police have cracked the ₹50 lakh robbery reported on June 27, arresting the alleged mastermind's wife and recovering ₹25 lakh in cash.

Police say the robbery was carried out by a notorious Chhara gang, while three accused, including the alleged kingpin, remain on the run.

Victim's identification led to breakthrough

The case was solved after the victim identified a habitual offender from police records. CCTV footage and the victim's statement helped investigators link the crime to the gang.

Robbery planned using accident trick

Police said trader Keyur Patel was carrying ₹50 lakh collected from an angadia firm when three men allegedly blocked his car near Maruti Plaza by staging a minor accident, smashed the window, grabbed the cash bag and escaped.

Mastermind's wife arrested

Following a three-day search, police arrested Divya Ajay Gangadekar and recovered ₹25 lakh, believed to be part of the looted cash.

Police allege she managed gang finances

Investigators claim Divya stored robbery proceeds, distributed money to gang members' families and arranged funds for lawyers, bail and other legal expenses whenever members were arrested.

Three accused still absconding

Police have named Ajay alias Ajuba Gangadekar, Pratik alias Andho Panvekar, and Shankul Bhogekar as accused. Search operations are underway to trace them.

Gang has long criminal history

According to police, the gang is linked to multiple robbery, theft and chain-snatching cases across Ahmedabad and some members have previously faced action under the GUJCTOC Act.

Investigators are seeking Divya's custodial remand to recover the remaining cash and uncover the gang's wider financial network.
