Man Attacks Travel Agency Employee With Knife In Ahmedabad After Employer Files Complaint

A 40-year-old employee of a travel agency was allegedly attacked with a knife by a man at the agency’s office in Astodia early on August 23, shortly after the employee’s employer had filed a police complaint against the accused following a dispute at another office.

The accused, identified as Sharifkhan Sultankhan Pathan, a resident of Parikshitlal Nagar in Danilimda, allegedly went to the Safal Tours and Travels office around 1.30 am carrying a large knife.

The complainant, Taufiq Ismailbhai Devgadhwala, told police that he had been working for the travel agency’s proprietor, Farooqbhai Rangrez, for around four months. His shift runs from midnight to 8 am.

According to the complaint, a dispute had broken out on August 22 at another office belonging to the complainant’s employer near Gurukripa Dining Hall between two men, including Pathan. Following the dispute, the employer allegedly lodged a complaint at Gaekwad Haveli police station.

Accused Allegedly Tries To Stab Employee

The complainant told police that Pathan arrived at his workplace early the following morning and allegedly said that his employer had filed a complaint against him.

He allegedly threatened the complainant and his employer and abused the employee.

Pathan then allegedly attempted to stab the complainant in the stomach. The complainant said he managed to grab the accused’s hand and tried to escape, but Pathan allegedly chased him with the knife, threatening to “finish” him and his employer.

Pathan allegedly made two to three attempts to stab the complainant, but the latter managed to evade the blows.

Accused Allegedly Flees After Raising Alarm

The complainant raised an alarm, following which people in the vicinity gathered. The accused allegedly continued to abuse and threaten him before fleeing the spot.

The complainant said he was frightened and did not immediately approach the police. He later lodged the complaint after receiving encouragement from his employer.

Kagadapith police have registered a case and started an investigation.
