Liquor Bottles Found at Nikol Oxygen Park, Questions Raised Over Security

Liquor bottles found at Ahmedabad’s Nikol Oxygen Park have raised concerns over alleged late-night gatherings by anti-social elements and lapses in park security.

Alleged Entry Through Food Court

According to complaints, people are allegedly entering the park at night by tearing the cloth covering of an adjacent food court. Locals suspect that the premises are being used for drinking and other activities after dark.

The discovery of liquor bottles has caused concern among residents, particularly because the Oxygen Park was developed for public use.

Questions Over Security Arrangements

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has deployed security guards at gardens and Oxygen Parks across the city. The presence of liquor bottles has now prompted questions about how outsiders are gaining access to the Nikol park despite the security arrangements.

Residents have also called for an inquiry into whether guards are present during night hours and whether regular checks are being carried out.

AMC Promises Compound Wall

A civic official said tree plantation work at the Oxygen Park had been carried out with public participation and that a compound wall would now be constructed around the site.

The official also said the corporation would verify whether security guards had been deployed at the park. If negligence is found in the security arrangements, action will be taken, the official said.

Garden Department Under Scanner

The incident has also renewed questions within civic circles over monitoring by the AMC Garden Department.

There are allegations that officials do not conduct regular site inspections and that action is often initiated only after a video surfaces on social media or an external complaint is received.

The latest incident has therefore put both the park’s security arrangements and the Garden Department’s monitoring system under scrutiny.
