Isanpur Female Corporator Harassed Near Fatehwadi Canal, Three Youths Arrested

A female corporator living in Isanpur was allegedly harassed, threatened and assaulted by a group of young men near Fatehwadi Canal in Ahmedabad on Saturday night. The incident took place when she was travelling with her family to watch Garba on SG Highway. According to her complaint, the young men tried to stop their car, attempted to break its windows, behaved inappropriately with her and damaged the vehicle. Vejalpur police registered a case and arrested three young men. Further legal action is being taken.

Google Maps Shortcut Leads to an Argument

According to the complaint, the female corporator had gone out with her family on Saturday night to watch Garba celebrations on SG Highway. While travelling in their car, the family was using Google Maps to find the way to their destination.

Google Maps showed them a shortcut through the Fatehwadi Canal area. The family followed this route to reach SG Highway. While they were travelling on this road, they came across a young man riding a scooter.

The scooter rider did not give way to their car. As a result, the woman's son honked the horn to ask him to move aside. This led to an argument between the son and the scooter rider, who reportedly behaved rudely with the family.

After the argument, the family continued travelling and overtook the scooter rider. They moved ahead in their car, hoping to reach their destination.

Youths Try to Stop the Car and Break Its Windows

The situation became serious when the family's car reached a bend in the road. According to the complaint, the same scooter rider arrived there with three other young men.

The group allegedly tried to stop the family's car. They also attempted to break its windows. When the female corporator tried to settle the matter, one of the young men allegedly tried to pull her hand and made objectionable gestures towards her. The group also damaged the car.

Police Take Action After the Complaint

Following the incident, the female corporator called the police control room and asked for help. Vejalpur police reached the spot and registered a case based on her complaint.

• Vejalpur police arrested three young men in connection with the incident.
• One of the arrested accused was identified as Shoheb Shah Fakir, who had reportedly fled from the scene. Further legal action is being taken in the case.
