Indian Cobra Rescued Safely After Slithering Onto Road in Shela

Panic gripped residents of Ahmedabad’s Shela area after an Indian cobra, one of the country’s most venomous snake species, was spotted slithering onto a public road on Wednesday.

Local residents immediately alerted wildlife rescuer Vijay Dabhi of Animal Life Care after noticing the snake in the area. Upon receiving the call, Dabhi rushed to the spot and carried out a safe rescue operation, ensuring that neither the reptile nor members of the public were harmed.

Snake Shifted for Health Check Before Release

The cobra was captured using standard wildlife rescue protocols and was subsequently shifted to the Forest Department’s wildlife hospital for a health examination and further observation before being released into a suitable natural habitat, in accordance with established procedures.

Public Urged Not to Handle Snakes During Monsoon

Following the rescue, Dabhi appealed to the public to remain calm if they encounter a snake during the monsoon season, when reptiles frequently emerge from their natural habitats due to waterlogging and changing weather conditions.

He urged people not to attempt to kill, capture or handle snakes, regardless of whether they are venomous or non-venomous, and instead to immediately contact trained wildlife rescuers or the Forest Department.
