The Naroda Police in Ahmedabad have registered an FIR against a man accused of allegedly harassing a 38-year-old woman by creating manipulated images using artificial intelligence (AI), issuing death threats and sending defamatory messages to her relatives and friends after she ended their relationship.
According to the complaint, the alleged harassment began after the woman returned to her matrimonial home on February 17, 2026.
Woman says relationship began through social media
The complainant, Payalben Prajapati, a homemaker from Hanspura in Naroda, told police that she came into contact with Rajesh Kanubhai Panchal through social media.
She alleged that the two developed a relationship and that in October 2025 she left her husband’s home with her son and began living with Panchal after entering into a friendship agreement.
The complainant said she stayed with him for nearly two months before returning to her husband and family, alleging that Panchal had become increasingly suspicious of her.
Allegations of AI-based image circulation
After she returned to her matrimonial home, Panchal allegedly began repeatedly contacting her and pressuring her to resume living with him.
When she refused, he allegedly harassed her through phone calls and social media.
The woman alleged that Panchal created manipulated images of her using AI tools and circulated them through WhatsApp status updates.
She also claimed that he contacted her family members and repeatedly asked them to persuade her to return to him.
Death threats and defamatory messages alleged
The complainant alleged that Panchal threatened to kill her if she did not resume the relationship.
She further claimed that whenever she went out with a friend, Panchal contacted the friend and sent objectionable and defamatory messages about her.
According to the complaint, her husband, mother-in-law and friend are expected to be witnesses in the case.
Police examining digital evidence
Police have registered the FIR and started an investigation.
Investigators are expected to examine WhatsApp communications, the alleged AI-generated images, call records and other digital evidence to determine the nature and extent of the alleged harassment.
