Gita Jayanti 2026: Ahmedabad To Host 25,000 Women Named ‘Gita’ Together In World Record Bid

Ahmedabad is set to host an ambitious world-record attempt on Gita Jayanti on December 20, 2026, with organisers planning to bring 25,000 women named ‘Gita’ from across India together on a single stage at the Nikol Khodaldham Ground.

The initiative by the Shri Bhagavad Gita Charitable Trust aims to promote women's empowerment, social unity and the values of the Bhagavad Gita while seeking to surpass the trust's previous record.

From 4,715 Gitas To 25,000

The proposed gathering builds on an event organised by the trust in 2023, when 4,715 women named Gita were brought together, earning a Guinness World Record.

The organisers now plan to expand the gathering more than fivefold, with 25,000 women representing what they describe as 25,000 families and individual life stories.

Trust members said the event is intended to go beyond a conventional religious celebration and serve as a platform for social upliftment, life values and youth motivation.

Mahayagna, Gita Chanting And Felicitation

The event is expected to feature a range of religious and social activities, including:

• A world-record attempt involving 25,000 women named Gita on one stage
• A large-scale Mahayagna and collective chanting of Bhagavad Gita verses
• Felicitation of women named Gita for their contributions to society and the nation
• A large blood donation drive
• Health and yoga awareness programmes

According to the organisers, the central objective is to spread the teachings and core message of the Bhagavad Gita.

Incentives To Keep The Name ‘Gita’ Alive

The trust has also announced initiatives aimed at encouraging families to preserve the name's legacy.

Special rewards are planned for parents who name their newborn daughters Gita, while all women participating in the December event will receive official certificates recognising their participation.

Proposed ‘Gita Mall’ To Support Women

The trust is also considering a dedicated ‘Gita Mall’ aimed at supporting women's economic independence.

According to the organisers, the proposed project would provide employment opportunities for unemployed and widowed women while creating avenues for them to develop businesses.

The trust expects the proposed mall to be developed over the next two to three years, subject to the project's progress and implementation.
