Chair Dispute During Garba Turns Violent in Ahmedabad: Society Chairman, Traffic Head Constable Attacked

A dispute between two women over a chair during a Garba event at a Nava Naroda housing society in Ahmedabad turned violent on October 15, leaving society chairman and Traffic Police Head Constable Anilbhai Nayak seriously injured.

The attackers allegedly entered Sarjan Sky Flats with wooden sticks and assaulted Nayak after he intervened to resolve the dispute. He sustained a serious head injury and was shifted to a private hospital for treatment. The incident was captured on the society’s CCTV cameras.

Naroda Police have registered a case against four individuals and detained two suspects for questioning.

Chair Dispute Escalates During Garba

Nayak, who lives with his family at Sarjan Sky Flats, serves as a head constable with the city’s Traffic Police and is also the society chairman.

According to the complaint, an argument broke out between two residents, Nidhi Ladva and Hinaben Panchal, over a chair during the society’s Garba celebrations on October 15. Nidhi’s father, Chhaganbhai, also arrived at the scene.

Other residents intervened and managed to settle the disagreement. However, the situation escalated again shortly afterwards.

Four Men Arrive With Sticks

Hitendra Ladva and another man allegedly arrived at the society on a motorcycle and began abusing residents while supporting Nidhi’s side of the dispute. Nayak and other society members intervened and persuaded the men to leave.

Within minutes, four men allegedly returned to the society’s gate on two Activa scooters, carrying wooden sticks. One of them reportedly removed his T-shirt in public and began hurling abuses before striking Nayak twice with a stick.

The group then entered the society premises and allegedly attacked the residents. When Nayak tried to intervene, Ansh Ladva allegedly struck him on the head with a sharp, pointed weapon, causing serious injuries.

Police Examine CCTV Footage

The attackers fled when other residents rushed to the scene. CCTV cameras installed in the society recorded the incident, providing investigators with footage of the alleged assault.

The accused have been identified as Ansh Ladva, Mahavirsingh Rana, Krutarthsingh Raol and another individual. Naroda Police reached the spot after the incident, registered a case based on the complaint and detained two suspects.

Police have initiated further legal proceedings in the case.
