Four-Storey Textile Shop Gutted in Midnight Kalupur Blaze After Short Circuit in Ahmedabad's Panchkuwa

A massive fire tore through a four-storey textile shop outside Panchkuwa Darwaja in Ahmedabad's Kalupur late last night, destroying stock worth lakhs of rupees after a suspected short circuit triggered the blaze on the ground floor.

The fire broke out at 'R.K. Creation' and rapidly spread through all four levels of the building, fed by dense heaps of synthetic and cotton fabrics stored inside. Fire officials confirmed that no casualties or injuries were reported in the incident.

Blaze Escalates to Fourth Floor Within Minutes

The Panchkuwa fire station received the first emergency call late at night after locals spotted thick plumes of smoke billowing from the ground floor shutter. A single tender was initially dispatched to the site, but fire personnel quickly requested reinforcements after witnessing the speed at which the flames were climbing up the structure.

Six fire engines rushed to the scene to control the situation. Packed inventory on the top floor turned the fourth storey into a major hotspot, making direct access through the narrow stairwells nearly impossible.

Fire crews had to adapt their strategy as the blaze began raging on both the ground and fourth floors simultaneously. Firefighters scaled adjacent commercial buildings and directed continuous high-pressure water jets from neighboring rooftops to surround the structure.

The tactical move successfully cut off the fire path, preventing the flames from jumping to adjacent shops in the congested market lane. Fire teams battled the inferno for several hours before completely dousing the flames and initiating cooling operations. Preliminary investigations point toward a short circuit on the ground floor as the primary cause, though a formal forensic inspection is underway.
