According to police, the incident took place on July 2, when 57-year-old Budharam Bishnoi, a gas agency employee, was travelling on a moped from Vanch village to Bibipura.
The accused, who had allegedly planned the robbery in advance, intercepted him near a canal. They allegedly pushed him off his moped and attacked him with sharp weapons after he resisted.
The attackers then fled with a 2.5-tola gold chain and ₹3.5 lakh in cash.
Police tracked Accused Using Technical Inputs
Speaking about the case, DySP Astha Rana said police teams reached the spot immediately after receiving information about the incident.
She said separate teams were formed, and the accused were identified and arrested with the help of technical and human intelligence. According to police, two of the arrested accused have previous criminal records and have earlier been booked in prohibition and robbery cases.
Five Accused Arrested
Police have arrested Kiran, Ramsinh, Anil, Phulaji and Shravan in connection with the case.
During the investigation, police found that four of the accused allegedly carried out the robbery using weapons, while Shravan kept watch on the road to ensure that no police personnel or other vehicles approached the spot during the crime.
Looted Property Recovered
Police said they have recovered the vehicles used in the crime, the stolen gold chain and the cash allegedly looted during the robbery.
