Family Wakes Up To Find Home Burgled, Jewellery Worth ₹90,900 Stolen In Maninagar

A family in Ahmedabad’s Maninagar area woke up to find their house burgled, with gold and silver jewellery and an electronic tablet worth ₹90,900 stolen. Police have registered a case against unidentified persons and started an investigation.

Theft Discovered In Morning

According to the complaint, Maheshsingh Somaji Chavda, a resident of Dakshini Society in Maninagar, returned home from work on the night of July 6, had dinner with his family and went to sleep.

The next morning, his wife noticed that the locker of an iron cupboard was open and clothes were scattered inside the room. She first thought her husband had opened it, but when the couple checked the cupboard, they found several valuables missing.

The stolen items included a gold chain, a child’s gold ring, six gold earrings, eight silver anklets, a silver bar, silver lockets, silver ingots, silver ornaments, silver coins and a Samsung Galaxy Tab A tablet. The total value of the stolen property was estimated at ₹90,900.

Complaint Filed Later

The complainant told police that he did not file a complaint immediately because he did not have the purchase bills for most of the jewellery, which had been received as gifts from relatives. He first tried to trace the bills by contacting family members.

He also said the family was busy with a social function, which delayed the complaint. After failing to find the documents, they approached the Maninagar police and lodged an FIR.

Police Probe Underway

Police suspect the burglars entered the house after opening the iron grille at the main entrance before breaking open the cupboard and stealing the valuables.

A case has been registered under the relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Investigators are checking CCTV footage, collecting forensic evidence and verifying the movement of suspicious persons in the area. Efforts are underway to identify the accused and recover the stolen property.
