A listed bootlegger from Muthiya village and his two brothers have been booked after allegedly abandoning a car carrying 1,488 bottles of liquor worth ₹4.08 lakh during a police chase in Naroda.

The Naroda police team had received information that listed bootlegger Jayesh alias Jignesh alias Jiga Baldevbhai Solanki and his brother Anil alias Kali Baldevbhai Solanki were allegedly transporting liquor in a silver-coloured Alto car from the Dehgam side towards Naroda. Their third brother, Pradeep alias Padiyo Baldevbhai Solanki, was allegedly riding ahead on an Activa to pilot the route.

Car abandoned after police chase

Based on the tip-off, police deployed a team near Smashan Char Rasta and signalled the suspected Alto to stop.

However, according to police, the driver allegedly accelerated and fled, driving recklessly and putting other road users at risk. Police followed the car in a private vehicle through several locations, including Kadva Patel ni Wadi, Machhli Circle, Shreeji Dairy, Mama Kalyan Chowk, Jogni Mata Temple and the Kharicut Canal.

The chase continued towards Gayatri Farm Three Roads. The suspects allegedly abandoned the Alto on the road leading towards The Park and fled into the darkness.

Police said Pradeep, who was allegedly waiting ahead on an Activa, then picked up his two brothers and fled from the spot.

1,488 liquor bottles recovered

During a search of the abandoned Alto, police allegedly found 1,488 bottles of liquor of different brands concealed in cardboard boxes on the rear seat.

The vehicle, which allegedly had a fake number plate, was valued at around ₹4 lakh, while the seized liquor was worth approximately ₹4.08 lakh. Police seized property worth around ₹8 lakh in total.

Naroda police have registered a case against the three brothers, including the listed bootlegger, and launched an investigation to trace and arrest the accused.
