'Deliver My Body To My Father': Man's Message On Hand After Body Found In Sabarmati River, Police Launch Probe

A man's body was found floating in the Sabarmati River in Ahmedabad early on Sunday, September 13, with a mobile number and a message written in Hindi on the deceased's hand asking that his body be handed over to his father, police said.

A team from the fire department and police rushed to the spot after the body was spotted in the river. The river rescue team later recovered the body, but no identification documents were found on the deceased.

During the preliminary examination, police noticed a mobile number written on the man's hand along with the message: "Please deliver my body to my father."

Police Trace Identity Through Mobile Number

The Riverfront East Police began investigating the case using the mobile number written on the deceased's hand. Their inquiry led to the identification of the deceased as Rohit Prajapati, a native of Dungarpur in Rajasthan.

Police contacted his family and informed them about the incident. The body will be handed over to his relatives after completion of the post-mortem procedure.

Skeleton Found In River A Day Earlier

The incident comes a day after a human skeleton was found floating in the Sabarmati River near Jamalpur on Saturday afternoon.

The fire department's rescue team recovered the skeleton, with some clothing found on the upper portion of the remains. Based on a preliminary assessment, police believe the skeleton could be around 10 days old.

The Riverfront Police are investigating the two incidents separately and are working to establish the identity of the person whose skeleton was recovered near Jamalpur.
