The total value of the seized items was estimated at around ₹1.55 lakh.
A case has been registered against Bhatt under relevant provisions of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Police Probe Alleged Drug Supply Chain
During preliminary questioning, Bhatt allegedly told investigators that he had procured the mephedrone from a man identified as Rahim Ansari, a resident of Gomtipur.
According to police, Bhatt allegedly admitted that he personally collected the drug from Ansari and was selling it in Ahmedabad.
The Crime Branch is now investigating Ansari's alleged role and attempting to establish the wider supply and distribution network behind the seized narcotic substance.
Accused Has Criminal Record
Police records indicate that Bhatt has previously been booked in cases registered at Vadaj, Kagdapith, Ghatlodia, DCB and Bodakdev police stations.
Among the cases cited by the police is an NDPS Act case registered at Bodakdev police station in 2025. His other cases include prohibition offences, rioting, assault, criminal intimidation and violations of prohibitory orders.
Further investigation is underway to identify other people allegedly involved in the procurement and distribution of mephedrone in the city.
