Contractor Loses Gold Chain and ₹77,000 After Consuming Spiked Tea at Ahmedabad Railway Station

A Maharashtra-based electrical contractor was allegedly drugged and robbed by two unidentified men at Ahmedabad’s Kalupur railway station after one of them befriended him with a story about an unpaid salary, according to a complaint filed with Kalupur police.

The incident took place around 8.45 am on September 7, when Jayaprakash Shivamani Jat, who had come to Ahmedabad for electrical fitting work, was waiting at the railway station with his worker, Krishnakant Kamlesh Yadav, to board a train to Maharashtra.

Man Approaches Contractor With Salary Story

According to the complaint, a man aged around 25 approached Jat near the staircase and introduced himself as Rajesh Yadav. He allegedly claimed that his employer had beaten him and withheld his salary.

The man reportedly showed Jat bundles of cash in a bag and claimed he was carrying around ₹2 lakh but could not withdraw or conduct transactions in public.

He then allegedly asked Jat to buy him tea and water.

While the two were talking, another man, aged around 20-22, allegedly joined them. The second man reportedly warned Jat that Rajesh could be robbed because he was carrying a large amount of cash and persuaded them to go to a tea stall near the e-gate outside the railway station.

Jat told police that he went to the stall with the two men while his worker remained nearby.

Contractor Feels Disoriented After Tea

After drinking the tea, Jat allegedly began feeling unusually heavy-headed and disoriented.

Taking advantage of his condition, the two men allegedly removed his gold chain and Oppo A-series mobile phone before fleeing.

The complainant had reportedly entered his mobile phone password in front of the accused. According to the complaint, the same password was then allegedly used to access his Google Pay account.

The accused allegedly transferred ₹77,086 from Jat’s Unity Small Finance Bank account to different accounts.

Police Probe Discrepancy In Gold Chain Value

The complaint contains differing figures for the value of the stolen gold chain. One section puts its value at around ₹75,000, while another mentions ₹2.75 lakh. The mobile phone is valued at ₹15,000, while the alleged bank transfers total ₹77,086.

Police are expected to verify the discrepancies and establish the exact value of the stolen property and total financial loss as the investigation progresses.

The identities of the two alleged perpetrators are yet to be established.
