The complainant, 21-year-old Raj alias Babu Rajubhai Gupta, told police that he and his father run a business renting small batteries used to power lights in lorries and other establishments.
Raj said he reached the shop at around 7.30 am on August 8 and noticed that the main shutter lock was missing. On entering, he found that a paper box containing around ₹42,000 had been stolen.
CCTV Shows Masked Man Entering Shop
The complainant subsequently checked CCTV footage from the shopping complex. The footage allegedly showed a man with his face covered with a handkerchief entering the shop at around 4.45 am after breaking the shutter lock with a steel pipe.
The suspect allegedly took the cash kept inside the paper box and escaped.
Raj told police that he could not immediately approach the police as his father had been hospitalised for the previous four days. He later lodged a complaint with Chandkheda police.
Police have registered a case against the unidentified accused and launched an investigation. CCTV footage is being examined to identify the suspect and trace his movements before and after the burglary.
