Negligence Allegations Spark Protests at Scene

Local residents and grieving family members gathered at the premises following the incident, pointing to prolonged maintenance failures by the building managers.

Residents alleged that the lift had been malfunctioning for several months. Despite repeated representations made to the builder regarding the safety hazards, no repair work or structural inspections were carried out.

The victim's family initially refused to release the body for post-mortem examinations, demanding immediate legal action and accountability from those responsible for the building's upkeep.

Technical Audit Launched as Police Register Case

Police officials arrived at Shanti Shukra Society to manage the crowd, eventually persuading the family to allow police to transfer the body for medical examination.

Investigating Officer Inspector J.D. Agravat confirmed that forensic experts and official lift inspectors have been called in to assess the mechanical failure. Authorities confirmed that technical evidence gathered by the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) and lift inspectors will dictate the filing of formal criminal charges against the builder or maintenance management.
