Elderly couple injured in knife attack at Harsh Prime Society; security guards intervene and catch accused after a struggle
A family visit in Ahmedabad’s Bopal turned violent on Wednesday afternoon when a man allegedly stabbed his uncle and aunt following a dispute over being denied entry into the uncle’s house.
The accused, Manish Kumar Amritlal Solanki, a resident of Varsoda village in Gandhinagar district, allegedly attacked the couple at their residence in Harsh Prime Society near DPS School around 2.15 pm. The injured couple, identified as Vinodbhai Chauhan and his wife Bhavanaben Chauhan, 55, were taken to Zydus Hospital for treatment.
According to the complaint filed at Bopal police station, Manish arrived at the couple’s home, where Bhavanaben welcomed him and offered him water. However, the situation soon escalated after he questioned her about why her husband was not allowing him to enter his house and demanded to know where he was.
Accused Allegedly Stabs Uncle in the Stomach
Bhavanaben went inside to call her husband, who was cleaning the terrace. As Vinodbhai approached the room, Manish allegedly picked up a knife near the kitchen and stabbed him in the stomach.
When Bhavanaben rushed to protect her husband, the accused allegedly attacked her, stabbing her on the left side of her head above the ear.
Injured Uncle Overpowers Accused
A struggle followed as Vinodbhai attempted to defend himself and his wife. Despite being injured, he managed to overpower the accused and prevent further knife attacks.
Manish allegedly assaulted him with a stick during the scuffle. Vinodbhai eventually managed to drag him outside the house.
The commotion alerted society security personnel Nim Prasad and Meetbhai Shawal, who intervened and caught the accused. Manish allegedly continued issuing death threats against the couple and their family even after being restrained.
Bopal Police Register FIR
Other residents of the society took the injured couple to Zydus Hospital.
Bopal police have registered an FIR based on Bhavanaben’s complaint and initiated an investigation into the incident.
