Bomb Threat Email Names Somnath Temple, BJP Offices And Gujarat CM; Security Agencies On Alert

Security agencies in Gujarat were put on alert on Monday after an alleged bomb-threat email named the Somnath Temple, BJP offices and several other sensitive locations as potential targets.

The email reportedly threatened to blow up the Somnath Temple, the BJP's central office and its office in Ahmedabad's Khanpur area. It also allegedly contained threats against Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, police personnel and the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Following the threat, teams from the Ahmedabad Fire and Emergency Services, city police and the bomb detection and disposal squad were deployed at the BJP office in Khanpur as a precautionary measure.

Security checks were also initiated at other locations reportedly mentioned in the email.

Email Claims Explosives Already Planted

According to the contents of the message, the sender claimed that explosives had already been planted at different locations.

The email also reportedly contained provocative slogans and references to Pakistan and Khalistan. The message was said to begin and end with religious slogans.

Officials are examining the email to determine its authenticity, trace its origin and assess whether there is any credible threat.

There was no immediate confirmation of any explosive device being found at the locations named in the message.

Earlier Threat Emails Triggered Security Checks

The latest threat comes amid a series of bomb-threat emails targeting sensitive establishments in Gujarat in recent weeks.

Earlier this month, emails threatening the Gujarat Assembly, courts and schools had prompted security checks. No suspicious objects were found during the searches, according to the information available.

Gujarat Police had also recently arrested two men in Bihar and Jharkhand in connection with an alleged interstate network involved in sending bomb-threat emails.

Investigators reportedly found a large database of email credentials that was allegedly being used to send threatening communications.

The latest email is being examined as part of the ongoing investigation, while security agencies remain on alert across Gujarat.
