Acting on a tip-off, Naroda police received information that a man wearing grey jeans and a white shirt and carrying a black bag containing narcotics was moving from Nana Chiloda Circle towards the Nana Chiloda crossroads.
Based on the information, police, accompanied by two official witnesses, kept watch on the public road opposite Chamunda Tyre near Nana Chiloda Circle.
When a person matching the description approached the spot, police intercepted and apprehended him.
A preliminary test conducted using a chemical kit indicated that the substance in the bag was Mephedrone. Police subsequently weighed the contents on a digital weighing scale and recovered 1,850 grams of the drug packed in two packets.
The seized contraband and other items were valued at approximately ₹55.56 lakh, according to police.
Drug Consignment Allegedly Collected From Two Nigerians
During questioning, Nikhilesh allegedly told police that he was a resident of Bengaluru and had been asked by a Nigerian national named Frank, also based in Bengaluru, to transport the drug.
According to police, Frank had offered Nikhilesh ₹1 lakh for a single trip. Acting on his instructions, Nikhilesh travelled to Chandigarh to collect the consignment.
Police said the accused allegedly obtained the Mephedrone from two unidentified Nigerian men who had arrived in Chandigarh in a black Mahindra XUV 700.
Nikhilesh was then allegedly travelling back with the consignment and was supposed to hand it over to Frank in Bengaluru.

However, the accused was intercepted by the Naroda police before he could reach Bengaluru.
The entire seizure operation was videographed using the 'e-Sakshya' application, police said.
Investigators are now probing the identities of the two Nigerian nationals who allegedly supplied the Mephedrone in Chandigarh and the alleged role of Frank, who reportedly ordered the consignment in Bengaluru.
The police are also investigating the wider network involved in transporting and supplying the drugs.
