A 30-year-old man was seriously injured after a woman friend allegedly called him to discuss marriage and then attacked him with the help of her family members in Ahmedabad’s Bapunagar on October 8. According to the complaint, the attackers threw chilli powder into his eyes before allegedly assaulting him with a sword and an iron pipe near Shubhlaxmi Flats.

Bapunagar police have registered a case against the woman, her brother, father and mother. An investigation is underway.

Woman Calls Friend To Discuss Marriage

According to the complaint filed by Akashbhai Jethwa, a resident of Shubhlaxmi Flats, he was acquainted with the Gaun family living in the same residential complex. Ranjanben Gaun was his friend.

On the night of October 8, Akashbhai was sitting at Bhidbhanjan when Ranjanben called him and asked him to meet her near the gate of Shubhlaxmi Flats to discuss marriage. He reached the spot at around 9.30 pm.

Police said Ranjanben’s brother Rahul, father Ramanand and mother were also present at the location.

Chilli Powder Thrown Into Victim’s Eyes

As Akashbhai began asking Ranjanben about the marriage discussion, her mother allegedly threw chilli powder into his eyes. Rahul was carrying a sword, while Ramanand had an iron pipe, the complaint stated.

Rahul allegedly abused Akashbhai and struck him on the head with the sword, while Ramanand hit him with the iron pipe. Ranjanben allegedly punched him in the face, and her mother slapped him.

The assault left Akashbhai seriously injured.

Victim Taken To Civil Hospital

The complaint further alleged that Rahul threatened to kill Akashbhai, his brother and other family members if he continued speaking to Ranjanben.

The accused allegedly fled after people at the scene raised an alarm. Akashbhai’s mother, Sitaben, subsequently took him to Civil Hospital in a 108 ambulance for treatment.

Bapunagar police have registered a case against all four accused and initiated further investigation into the incident.
