AMC To Buy 4 Special Machines To Clean BRTS, Metro Route Guard Railings At ₹8.28 Crore

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) is set to introduce specialised machines for cleaning guard railings installed along major roads, model roads, and the central verges of BRTS and Metro corridors across the city.

The civic body plans to purchase four guard rail washing machines, with an estimated expenditure of around ₹8.28 crore, excluding GST. The machines are intended to replace the labour-intensive manual cleaning process and bring a more mechanised approach to maintaining road infrastructure and greenery.

Each machine to cost ₹2.07 crore

According to the proposal, the base price of each machine has been fixed at approximately ₹2.07 crore, with 18% GST applicable separately.

For four machines, the total base cost will therefore be around ₹8.28 crore, excluding GST.

During the initial warranty period, each machine will operate for eight hours a day in a single shift, with the daily operating cost estimated at around ₹18,540 per machine.

After the warranty period ends, the operating cost is expected to increase to approximately ₹18,990 per machine per day.

Five-year maintenance contract included

Along with purchasing the machines, AMC also plans to award a five-year operation and maintenance contract to ensure their continued functioning and upkeep.

In the tender process, the lowest bid submitted by City Lifeline Travels Pvt. Ltd. has reportedly been accepted.

The proposal has now been placed before the AMC Standing Committee for final approval.

Once approved and deployed, the machines are expected to be used for cleaning guard railings and maintaining infrastructure along some of Ahmedabad's busiest road corridors.
