AMC Clears 160 Encroachments Near Kalupur Station and Naroda to Reclaim Pedestrian Spaces

The Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) executed a major anti-encroachment drive across the Naroda-Rakhial ward, seizing 160 items disrupting public spaces and fining illegally parked vehicles along heavily congested transit corridors.

Led by the Estate and Urban Development Department (North Zone), civic officials targeted illegal temporary structures, vendor stalls, and commercial obstructions extending from Shaherkotda Police Station up to Kalupur Railway Station Platform No. 12. The clearance drive also restored blocked footpaths around major intersections, including Ambedkar Hall, Naroda Crossroads, Shardaben Circle, and Potlia Crossroads.

Civic Team Seizes Stalls and Unauthorised Banners

During the sweep, enforcement teams confiscated 18 commercial handcarts (lorries) and removed 28 illegal advertising hoardings, banners, and display boards. Authorities also seized 114 miscellaneous goods left unattended on public rights-of-way to ensure unhindered movement for pedestrians.

The joint operation drew operational support from the Shaherkotda Police, E-Division Traffic Police, and the State Reserve Police (SRP) Force to maintain order and keep traffic moving smoothly during the clearance.

Traffic Police Clamp Down on Unauthorised Parking

Alongside the removal of physical structures, traffic police targeted vehicles parked illegally along the high-density stretches. Officers wheel-locked 18 vehicles left on public roads, collecting ₹13,300 in administrative charges and spot fines from offenders.

AMC officials confirmed that the crackdown forms part of a sustained campaign to keep city roads safe and clear footpaths for foot traffic. Civic authorities plan to extend similar enforcement drives across other parts of the North Zone over the coming days.
