Ahmedabad’s Subhash Bridge RTO To Get Additional AI Driving Test Track As Failure Rate Hits 80%

The Ahmedabad RTO at Subhash Bridge will get an additional AI-based driving test track after the failure rate among applicants on the new track rose to around 80%, resulting in a growing backlog.

The new track will be developed at the site of the old track to reduce waiting times for applicants appearing for driving tests and retests.

80% Applicants Failing Four-Wheeler Test

Since the AI test track was introduced at the Subhash Bridge RTO, the high failure rate in four-wheeler tests has become a concern for applicants.

Around 120 four-wheeler and 160 two-wheeler applicants take the track test at the RTO every day. Earlier, around 55–60 of the 120 four-wheeler applicants failed the test daily.

However, over the past two months, the number of failed applicants has increased to around 96–100 per day, taking the failure rate close to 80%.

Retest Backlog Leads To Long Waiting Period

The increase in failures has resulted in a significant backlog for retests. Four-wheeler applicants currently face a waiting period of around two months, while two-wheeler applicants have to wait approximately one month for a retest.

To ease the backlog, the government has decided to establish another AI test track at the RTO.

According to official RTO sources, the new track will be constructed where the old track was located. The project is currently at the planning stage, and the estimated cost and official completion timeline have not yet been finalised.

However, officials expect the additional track to be ready within about a year.

The availability of another track is expected to reduce the failure rate by up to 50%, according to the estimates cited by RTO officials.
