A dispute over a phone call allegedly turned violent in Ahmedabad’s Vejalpur area, where a 32-year-old woman accused her husband of hitting her on the forehead with a mobile phone after suspecting her of speaking to someone, police said.
According to a complaint filed by Sonalben Solanki at Vejalpur police station on October 15, the incident occurred around 2.30 pm on October 14, when her husband, Rahulbhai Solanki, returned home from his tattoo shop near ISKCON Char Rasta.
Dispute Over Phone Call Turns Violent
Sonalben told police that she had asked her husband to have a meal when he began questioning her about a phone call. She denied speaking to anyone and explained that the phone belonged to her mother.
Her mother-in-law, Manjuben, then handed her mobile phone to Rahulbhai so he could check it. However, the argument allegedly escalated when Sonalben questioned why her husband did not trust her.
Rahulbhai allegedly abused her and struck her on the forehead with the mobile phone, leaving her bleeding, according to the complaint.
Woman Treated at VS Hospital
Following the alleged assault, Sonalben was taken to VS Hospital, where doctors registered a medico-legal case and stitched the wound on her forehead. She was discharged after receiving treatment, her complaint stated.
Woman Alleges Years of Mental Harassment
Sonalben also alleged that her husband had repeatedly suspected her and subjected her to mental harassment during their nearly 10-year marriage.
She told police that she had moved to her parental village of Jasapar in Rajkot district around a year ago. About five months ago, she had filed a complaint against her husband at Atkot police station. That case is pending in court, according to her statement.
Sonalben said she had returned to the couple’s residence in Vejalpur around 10 days before the latest incident.
Police are investigating the allegations.
