Ahmedabad: Two Cars Get Stuck in Sinkhole On Manekbag Road

Road cave-ins continue to trouble Ahmedabad even after the rains have stopped, with a sinkhole appearing again on Manekbag Road on Wednesday. Two cars got stuck in the cavity during the morning before local residents and other motorists helped pull the vehicles out.

Two Cars Fall Into Sinkhole

The sinkhole appeared on Manekbag Road and posed a serious risk to commuters using the busy stretch.

Two vehicles fell into the cavity during the morning. Residents and other motorists rushed to the spot and helped remove both cars from the sinkhole.

Locals Put Up Barricades

Despite the sinkhole appearing on the road, protective barricading was reportedly not installed by the civic authorities initially.

Concerned about the possibility of further accidents, local residents put up temporary barricades themselves and warned motorists about the danger.

Following complaints from residents, a civic team reached the location and installed barricades around the sinkhole.

Earlier Sinkhole Near Manekbag Crossroads

This is not the first incident of a sinkhole being reported on Manekbag Road.

Earlier, a sinkhole had appeared near Manekbag crossroads, following which a civic team immediately installed barricades at the spot.

During that incident, a sewage manhole cover was also found to have sunk around 10 feet away from the sinkhole on the same road.

The repeated incidents of road subsidence and sinkholes in the area have raised questions over the condition of the road and the underground sewage network.
