A 33-year-old labourer was killed after a truck allegedly rammed into his motorcycle and ran over him near Nakoda Company crossroads on the Peepalaj–Motipura road in Ahmedabad on Monday afternoon. His friend, who was riding pillion, sustained injuries in the crash.
The deceased, Dipukumar Ramchandra Chauhan, was travelling with Gautam Singh Krishnagopal Rajput, 36, when the accident occurred around 1.45 pm on October 19. K Traffic Police Station has registered a case against the unidentified truck driver following a complaint by Chauhan’s elder brother, Mansingh Ramchandra Chauhan, 40.
Truck Allegedly Hit Motorcycle At Junction
According to the complaint, Dipukumar and Rajput were heading towards Motipura crossroads from Peepalaj when they reached the junction near Nakoda Company. A Tata truck allegedly approached at high speed and struck their motorcycle, throwing both men onto the road.
The truck’s wheel reportedly ran over Dipukumar’s chest and abdomen, causing fatal injuries. Rajput suffered injuries to his left leg and head.
Bystanders called an ambulance, but emergency medical personnel declared Dipukumar dead at the scene. Rajput was taken to hospital for treatment.
Elder Brother Rushed To Accident Spot
Mansingh told police that he was working at a company near Ranipur Patiya when he received a call informing him about the accident. He rushed to the spot and found his younger brother lying dead, with his body covered by a cloth, while Rajput was being taken for medical treatment.
The brothers lived with their families in a rented house in Gitanagar Society near Rangolinagar in Narol. Dipukumar lived on the ground floor with his wife, son and daughter, while Mansingh and his family occupied the upper floor.
The complaint further stated that Dipukumar and Rajput had rented a godown on the road between Motipura and Peepalaj, where they undertook cloth-related job work.
