A 17-year-old boy was allegedly stabbed multiple times by a 16-year-old boy following a minor argument over physical contact in Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati area on Tuesday evening. The victim’s friend was also injured while trying to intervene.

The incident took place around 7 pm on October 13, when the teenager, Sachin, and his friend Karan were standing outside Karan’s house in B Block of Satmaliya Gokulnagari, near the Sabarmati toll road.

According to a complaint lodged by Sachin’s mother, Tejalben Patni, the altercation began when another teenager brushed against Sachin while passing by. Sachin reportedly told him to watch where he was going, prompting an argument.

Argument Escalates Into Knife Attack

The complaint states that the argument escalated when Sachin objected to being abused. The accused minor allegedly threatened to kill him, pulled out a knife from his waistband and attacked him.

Sachin sustained injuries to his right palm while attempting to ward off the knife. He was also allegedly stabbed in the lower left side of his chest, the left side of his back and his left arm.

Karan was injured when he tried to intervene and protect his friend. He sustained injuries to a finger on his right hand and the back of his neck.

Neighbours Rush Injured Teenagers to Hospital

The commotion alerted residents in the neighbourhood, who helped take both injured teenagers to Panchsheel Hospital in an autorickshaw.

Sachin’s parents were working at their vegetable stall near Ramnagar vegetable market when their younger son arrived and informed them about the attack. They rushed to the spot before heading to the hospital, where Sachin was receiving treatment.

Tejalben told the police that her son was conscious when he recounted the incident to her.

Police Apprehend Juvenile

Y R Vaghela, inspector of Sabarmati police, said officers apprehended the juvenile in conflict with law shortly after the incident and initiated further legal proceedings.

Sabarmati police have registered a case under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Gujarat Police Act. Further investigation is under way.
