CCTV Footage Helps Police Trace Suspect
As part of the investigation, police examined footage from more than 100 CCTV cameras covering areas including Ramol Toll Tax, Hatkeshwar, Odhav Ring Road and Singarwa.
During the investigation, police reportedly found a currency note with an obscene message written on it in the parking area of Janvi Arcade on Odhav S.P. Ring Road.
After examining CCTV footage and using technical surveillance, police traced the alleged person behind the incident. The relative of the woman’s husband was subsequently arrested.
Police Probe Reveals Alleged Motive
According to the police investigation, the woman had earlier helped arrange the marriage of the relative and his wife. After having a child, the relative and his wife separated, and the two of them later got divorced.
Police allege that following the divorce, the man developed one-sided feelings for the woman.
Investigators suspect that he allegedly circulated the obscene letters with the intention of defaming the woman, creating problems in her marriage and eventually forcing her to marry him.
