Ahmedabad Rural Police Arrest Man With Country-Made Pistol Near Kanbha

Ahmedabad Rural Police have arrested a 35-year-old man for allegedly possessing an illegal country-made pistol during a patrol operation near Kanbha village in Daskroi taluka.

The accused has been identified as Tosif Hussain Mustaqbhai Sheikh, a resident of Jainul Park in Vejalpur, Ahmedabad city.

Suspect Intercepted Near Ahmedabad-Indore Highway

According to police, the arrest was made on Tuesday as part of an ongoing drive against the illegal possession and use of firearms in Ahmedabad Rural district.

A Kanbha Police team was conducting routine patrols when it received specific information about a man allegedly carrying an illegal firearm.

Acting on the tip-off, police intercepted Sheikh near the Gurukul three-road junction on the Ahmedabad-Indore Highway within the limits of Kanbha village.

Country-Made Pistol Seized

Police alleged that Sheikh was found carrying a country-made pistol valued at around ₹15,000.

The firearm was seized and the accused was taken into custody.

Kanbha Police Station has registered an offence under the relevant section of the Arms Act.

Police Probe Weapon's Source

Investigators are now examining where the accused allegedly obtained the firearm and whether it was used in any previous offence.

Police are also checking whether Sheikh has links with any criminal network as part of the ongoing investigation.
