A video showing a group of youths performing a dangerous stunt on a motorcycle at Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Riverfront has gone viral on social media, prompting police action. Five people were allegedly travelling on a motorcycle meant for two, with one youth hanging from the side of the moving bike.
Police said the stunt put the lives of the riders as well as other people using the riverfront at risk. After the video surfaced online, Riverfront West Police traced the motorcycle and registered a case against the rider and another youth.
Four Seated on Bike, One Hanging From Side
The video was reportedly recorded on the stretch between Usmanpura Riverfront and the Income Tax Bridge. Four people were seen riding on the motorcycle, while another youth was hanging from its side like a bag as the bike was allegedly being driven at high speed.
Adding to the traffic violations, the rear number plate of the motorcycle reportedly displayed “Ramadhani” instead of the registration number.
Police Trace Bike Through Number Plate
After the video went viral, Riverfront West Police began investigating the motorcycle using its front number plate.
The investigation revealed that the bike was registered in the name of Teenaben Parmar, a resident of the Shahpur area. Police then visited the registered address and began questioning those connected with the motorcycle.
20-Year-Old Allegedly Behind the Stunt
Police found that 20-year-old Hardik Vaghela was allegedly riding the motorcycle when the stunt was performed.
According to the investigation, Hardik had three minors seated behind him, while 18-year-old Jashwant Solanki was allegedly hanging from the side of the motorcycle.
Stunt Allegedly Filmed During Outing With Friends
During questioning, Hardik reportedly told police that he and his friends had gone out for a ride on the 29th when the stunt was performed and recorded.
Police have registered a case against Hardik Vaghela, who was allegedly riding the motorcycle, and Jashwant Solanki, who was hanging from its side. Further legal proceedings are underway.
