Ahmedabad Riverfront Forfeits ₹1 Lakh Deposit After Stunts At Car-Bike Display

The Sabarmati Riverfront Development Corporation Limited has forfeited the ₹1 lakh security deposit of an event organiser after cars and motorcycles were allegedly used for stunts during a vehicle display at a multilevel parking facility, despite permission being granted only for showcasing vehicles.

The terrace and seventh floor of the parking facility had been rented for ₹2 lakh for a premium car and bike display held on Sunday. According to Riverfront Development Corporation official Deepak Patel, the permission was limited to displaying vehicles and did not include any stunt performances.

Biker Reportedly Falls During Stunt

According to reports, motorcycle stunts were performed during the event and a biker reportedly lost control and fell while attempting a stunt. No casualties were reported.

There were also reports of a car being used in a stunt involving flames. Tyre marks left by a motorcycle were subsequently found on the parking deck.

Photos and videos purportedly showing cars and motorcycles being used for stunts at the venue have also circulated widely on social media.

Written Notice Issued To Organiser

After the alleged violation came to light, Riverfront authorities issued a written notice to the organiser and initiated action to forfeit the ₹1 lakh deposit for using the rented premises for an activity that was not covered by the permission.

The event was organised by Kabir Sadhwani from Maharashtra, according to the authorities.

Venue Rented To Generate Revenue

A Riverfront authority official said the multilevel parking facility was rented out as part of efforts to increase its utilisation and generate revenue.

However, the official said the action was taken after it was found that the premises had allegedly been used for stunts rather than solely for the permitted vehicle display.

No Police Complaint So Far

A police official said no complaint has been filed in connection with the incident so far.

Despite reports that a motorcyclist fell during a stunt, no formal police complaint has been lodged. Police indicated that if an accident had occurred, the parties involved may have reached a mutual settlement.

Meanwhile, Riverfront authorities have proceeded with forfeiture of the organiser's security deposit over the alleged violation of the conditions under which the venue was rented.
