Ahmedabad Railway Station Redevelopment: New Building Reaches 13th Floor, Rail Minister Reviews Progress

Construction of the new building under the redevelopment of Ahmedabad Railway Station has reached the 13th floor, Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said while reviewing the project during his visit to Gujarat.

Vaishnaw Reviews Redevelopment Work

Vaishnaw, who also holds the portfolios of Information & Broadcasting and Electronics & IT, reviewed the ongoing redevelopment work and shared an update on the project's progress.

After inspecting the project, the minister said, “Excellent progress is being made on the Ahmedabad Railway Station redevelopment project. The new station structure has reached the 13th floor, and construction is proceeding at a satisfactory pace.”

Focus On Modern Passenger Facilities

The redevelopment is aimed at creating a modern railway station with upgraded passenger facilities and infrastructure designed to meet the city's future passenger requirements.

The new complex is planned with an emphasis on state-of-the-art passenger amenities, seamless connectivity and multi-modal integration with other transport services.

Work Being Carried Out In Phases

The entire redevelopment project is being implemented in phases to minimise inconvenience to passengers travelling to and from the station during construction.

The phased approach is intended to ensure that railway operations and passenger movement continue with minimal disruption while construction work progresses.

Minister Had Reviewed Project In July

The Railway Minister had earlier reviewed Ahmedabad's railway projects, including the station redevelopment, during a high-level meeting with railway officials and public representatives in July 2026.

The meeting also covered the progress of other railway development projects underway across Ahmedabad and Gujarat.
