Ahmedabad Railway Station Platforms 9 To 12 Likely To Reopen In October Amid Bullet Train Work

Ahmedabad’s Kalupur railway station could see four more platforms return to service in October, with Platforms 9-10 and 11-12 nearing completion under the ongoing redevelopment and Bullet Train project.

Work to lay new tracks for the reopening of the four platforms is almost complete. Railway authorities are currently carrying out signalling, electrification and platform-related work, with a railway official saying all four platforms are expected to become operational in October.

Reopening Deadline Delayed Twice

The reopening of Platforms 9 to 12 was initially scheduled for April. The deadline was later pushed to August, but technical issues led to another delay.

The Railways has now set October as the latest target for reopening the four platforms.

Once operational, the platforms will provide additional space for handling train services while redevelopment work progresses across the station.

Platforms 4 To 7 Next On Redevelopment List

The reopening of Platforms 9 to 12 is also expected to pave the way for the next major phase of work at Kalupur station.

According to the railway official, once the four platforms are operational, the Railways will take a block on Platforms 4 to 7 to begin major redevelopment work.

With trains able to use Platforms 9 to 12, railway authorities will have greater flexibility to adjust train operations while work is carried out on Platforms 4 to 7.

Major Phase Of Kalupur Station Redevelopment

The redevelopment of Platforms 4 to 7 will be a significant phase of the wider transformation of Ahmedabad’s Kalupur railway station.

For now, the focus remains on completing the signalling, electrification and platform works required to bring Platforms 9 to 12 back into operation.
