A parking dispute in Ahmedabad’s Navrangpura area allegedly spiralled into a street fight on October 21, leaving a young man with a broken gold chain worth around ₹1 lakh and another man allegedly struck on the head with a bracelet.
According to the complaint, the confrontation began around 9.15 pm near the gate of Anjan Apartment, close to Abhiraj Apartment, when a paying guest (PG) manager objected to a Honda Activa parked nearby. The argument allegedly drew in the PG owner and other men before the police were called.
Activa Parking Sparks Argument
The complainant, 23-year-old Sahil Dingra, was sitting on his Activa when the incident occurred. His friend, Ritik Ravat, who lives in a nearby PG accommodation, had parked the vehicle before going upstairs to collect his purse.
PG manager Shreyank Kanojia allegedly objected to the parking. Dingra reportedly argued that the vehicle was not obstructing anyone, leading to an exchange of words.
The manager allegedly abused Dingra, and the PG owner, Prashant Kanojia, was called to the spot. The owner allegedly joined the confrontation and pushed and slapped the complainant.
Gold Chain Snaps During Scuffle
During the ensuing scuffle, Dingra’s gold chain, weighing around 15 grams and valued at approximately ₹1 lakh, snapped.
He later found half of the chain near Anjan Apartment, but the other half was missing, according to the complaint.
Man Allegedly Hit On Head With Bracelet
The confrontation reportedly escalated further when Dingra’s friends, including Siddharth Roopnarayan, attempted to intervene and calm the situation.
An unidentified man from the PG allegedly struck Siddharth on the back of his head with a bracelet he was wearing.
As more PG occupants gathered at the scene, one of Dingra’s friends called the police control room.
Navrangpura police have registered a case in connection with the incident and initiated further investigation.
