Train to Reach 280 Kmph During Testing

Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw recently said the first coach had been completed and was undergoing testing. He also said trial runs were expected to begin in May-June.

Surat-Vapi Section May Open in 2027

The first section of the Ahmedabad-Mumbai bullet train corridor, between Surat and Vapi in Gujarat, could begin passenger operations by August 2027.

The project will also have modern rolling stock depots at Surat and Sabarmati in Gujarat and Thane in Maharashtra for train operations and maintenance.

BEML to Handle Supply and Maintenance

Under the ₹5,400-crore-plus contract, BEML will be responsible for supplying high-speed rolling stock required for the corridor and carrying out maintenance work in the future.

The trains will feature advanced safety, control and signalling systems required for high-speed operations. The project is also expected to expand domestic capabilities in high-speed rail technology and manufacturing.
