A 24-year-old man was allegedly stabbed by his brother-in-law in Ahmedabad’s Vatva area after he intervened in an argument between the accused and his wife, the victim’s sister. The attack took place hours after the initial confrontation, when the victim was sitting alone near a medical store.
The injured man, identified as Gagan alias Maya Naranbhai Kanjibhai, sustained knife wounds near his left ear and on his right upper arm. He was initially taken to L.G. Hospital and later shifted to Civil Hospital for further treatment.
Vatva police have registered a case against the accused, Shahbaz alias Bobdo Sao Anwarkhan Pathan, 30, and launched an investigation.
Argument Between Couple Turns Violent
According to the complaint, Gagan, a daily-wage labourer living in the Insaniyatnagar Char Maliya area of Vatva, is the younger brother of Ashaben, 35.
Ashaben’s first husband died around four years ago, after which she married Shahbaz, who also lives in the same residential complex.
On October 22, around 4.30 pm, an argument broke out between Shahbaz and Ashaben beneath their residential block. Gagan reached the spot and attempted to intervene to settle the dispute.
Shahbaz allegedly abused Gagan and confronted him for interfering in the couple’s argument. To prevent the situation from escalating, Gagan left the area.
Accused Allegedly Returns With Knife
The confrontation reportedly resumed around 6.30 pm, when Gagan was sitting alone on the steps of a medical store near Umang Flats in Vatva.
According to the complaint, Shahbaz arrived carrying a knife and allegedly attacked Gagan. The victim managed to dodge the first blow, but the knife struck the area near his left ear. The accused then allegedly stabbed him in the right upper arm.
Gagan shouted for help as he began bleeding heavily, following which the accused allegedly fled the scene.
Injured Man Shifted To Civil Hospital
Gagan was rushed by ambulance to L.G. Hospital and later transferred to Civil Hospital for further treatment due to the severity of his injuries.
Vatva police have registered a case against Shahbaz and initiated an investigation into the alleged attack. Further details are awaited.
