Ahmedabad: Liquor Worth ₹3.74 Lakh Seized After Police Chase Near Maninagar’s Giraffe Circle; Seven Booked

The Zone-6 Local Crime Branch (LCB) intercepted a Hyundai Creta after a late-night pursuit near Giraffe Circle in Maninagar and seized foreign liquor worth ₹3.74 lakh. The total value of the seized liquor and vehicle was estimated at ₹17.31 lakh.

Police apprehended the occupants after they allegedly abandoned the car and attempted to escape on foot. A preliminary investigation revealed that the liquor consignment had allegedly been sourced from Viveksinh, alias Bapu, in Shamlaji.

The Maninagar Police Station has registered a prohibition case against seven individuals, including Sahil and Dhruv, alias Dhuliyo. Further investigation is under way to establish the alleged supply network.

Police Set Up Checkpoint After Receiving Tip-Off

According to the police, the Zone-6 LCB team received information that several individuals were transporting a large consignment of foreign liquor towards Maninagar in a Creta car.

Acting on the tip-off, the team set up a checkpoint and began monitoring vehicles near Giraffe Circle. When the suspected Creta approached, officers signalled the driver to stop.

However, the driver allegedly accelerated and attempted to flee, prompting the police to chase the vehicle in private cars.

Occupants Attempt to Escape After Car Is Intercepted

Police intercepted the Creta a short distance away. After the vehicle stopped, its occupants allegedly got out and attempted to escape into the darkness.

The police cordoned off the area and apprehended them. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of foreign liquor valued at ₹3.74 lakh.

The police seized the liquor and the Creta car, putting the total value of the seized property at ₹17.31 lakh.

Seven Named in Maninagar Prohibition Case

Preliminary inquiries indicated that the consignment had allegedly been supplied by Viveksinh, alias Bapu, from Shamlaji.

The LCB registered a case under the Gujarat Prohibition Act at Maninagar Police Station against Sahil, Dhruv alias Dhuliyo, Viveksinh, Sujal, Rahul, Yogesh and Parth.

Investigators are now examining the alleged roles of the seven named individuals and tracing the source and intended destination of the liquor consignment.
