Krishnanagar police conduct raids near Prabuddh Ashram and at Krishna Elegance; seize ganja, mobile phones and weighing scale worth ₹2.19 lakh
Ahmedabad's Krishnanagar police have busted an alleged hybrid ganja (cannabis) distribution network in the Nava Naroda area and arrested three men after raids near the Prabuddh Ashram canal crossroads and at the Krishna Elegance residential complex.
The police seized 54.180 grams of hybrid ganja, three mobile phones and a digital pocket weighing scale. The total value of the seized items has been estimated at ₹2.19 lakh. The arrested accused have been identified as Sandeepkumar Verma, Pradeep Anandsinh Rajput and Bunty Rameshchandra Mirchandani.
Police Act on Tip-Off Near Prabuddh Ashram
The D-Staff of Krishnanagar Police Station received information that hybrid ganja was allegedly being sold in Nava Naroda. Acting on the tip-off, a police team kept watch near the Prabuddh Ashram canal crossroads and apprehended Sandeepkumar Dayarambhai Verma.
A search reportedly led to the recovery of small packets containing hybrid ganja. During questioning, Verma allegedly told investigators that he had obtained the substance from his friend, Pradeep Anandsinh Rajput.
Second Raid at Krishna Elegance Leads to Third Accused
Following Verma's disclosure, police raided Rajput's residence, B-101 at Krishna Elegance, and allegedly recovered another quantity of hybrid ganja.
During questioning, Rajput's associate Bunty Rameshchandra Mirchandani was identified as another person linked to the supply chain. According to the preliminary investigation, Bunty had brought the ganja from Udaipur around 10 to 15 days earlier.
Police said Bunty had been consuming the substance for approximately seven months. Although he had initially brought the stock for personal use, he allegedly packaged the surplus ganja into small sachets and arranged to sell them through friends.
Police Probe Udaipur Supply Source and Earlier Consignments
Preliminary investigations indicate that none of the three arrested men has a prior criminal record. However, police are continuing their investigation to identify the person in Udaipur who allegedly supplied the hybrid ganja.
Investigators are also examining the call detail records (CDRs) of the accused persons' mobile phones to establish whether earlier consignments were brought to Ahmedabad and identify the local contacts who may have received the sachets.
The investigation is ongoing.
