He allegedly claimed that he owned a shop on the second floor of the same complex and that its inauguration was scheduled for the following day. He told the doctor that he needed ₹500 denomination notes to distribute among guests and offered to provide ₹1 lakh in ₹100 notes in exchange.
After receiving the doctor’s approval, the man approached Farinben Shaikh, who was seated at the hospital’s cash counter. After confirming the instructions, the cashier handed him ₹1 lakh in ₹500 notes.
Man Flees With Cash
A hospital employee, Minaben, was sent along with the man to collect the ₹1 lakh in smaller denomination notes.
However, the man allegedly asked her to wait near the hospital entrance, claiming that he would bring the money from downstairs. He then fled with the ₹1 lakh in cash.
The hospital staff realised that the man had allegedly deceived them and reported the matter.
Kagadapith Police Begin Investigation
Hospital manager Nileshbhai Pandav subsequently lodged a complaint at Kagadapith police station.
