Ahmedabad GPO Launches 24 Speed Post Service, Promises Next-Day Delivery to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane

India Post has launched its 24 Speed Post Document Service in Ahmedabad, offering next-day delivery to designated PIN codes in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Thane, with refunds of postal charges for delays or lost items.

Krishna Kumar Yadav, Postmaster General of the North Gujarat Region, inaugurated the premium service at Ahmedabad General Post Office (GPO) on October 15, marking the conclusion of National Postal Week. Bhavika Mangukiya became the first customer to use the service, booking a document shipment from Ahmedabad to Thane.

What Is the 24 Speed Post Document Service?

The new service aims to provide faster and more secure delivery of important documents for individuals, businesses, banks and financial institutions. Delivery is guaranteed within 24 hours for eligible PIN codes.

India Post has also announced a refund of the full postal charges if an item is delayed or lost. Deliveries will continue on Sundays and public holidays, allowing customers to send time-sensitive documents without waiting for the next working day.

Documents Weighing Up to 500 Grams Eligible

According to Manjulaben Patel, Senior Postmaster at Ahmedabad GPO, the service accepts important documents weighing up to 500 grams.

Eligible items include PAN cards, identity cards, passports, driving licences and banking-related documents. Customers must provide the complete addresses and mobile numbers of both the sender and recipient to book a shipment.

Tracking, OTP Delivery and Free Bulk Pickup

The service includes several features designed to improve security and convenience. These include OTP-based delivery, end-to-end tracking with SMS alerts, free pickup for bulk bookings and centralised billing.

Commercial customers can also access a Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) facility, while API integration supports businesses seeking to connect postal services with their own systems.

Where to Book the New Speed Post Service in Ahmedabad

Customers can currently book the service at three locations in Ahmedabad:

• Ahmedabad General Post Office (GPO)
• Navrangpura Business Development (BD) Cell
• Business Post Centre, Shahibaug

India Post plans to extend the facility to Navrangpura Head Post Office and the post offices at Ellisbridge, Manekbag and Paldi.

Ahmedabad Joins Six Major Cities Offering the Service

The service's launch in Ahmedabad follows its introduction in six major metropolitan cities: Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad.

The expansion is expected to benefit businesses and individuals who need to send important documents quickly, particularly those involving banking, financial transactions and official work. The 24-hour delivery commitment, however, applies to designated PIN codes rather than every destination.
