The Special Operations Group (SOG) of the Ahmedabad Crime Branch has seized 1,221 suspected counterfeit L’Oréal and Matrix cosmetics worth ₹6.90 lakh from two shops on Gheekanta Road. Police have registered cases under the Copyright Act against the shops’ operators, Yash Prabhulal Thakkar and Rishabh Rajendrabhai Agrawal, and launched an investigation into the alleged sale and supply of duplicate products.
1,221 Products Seized in Two Raids
The operation followed information received by Nrupendra Shailendrakumar Kashyap, an authorised representative of L’Oréal based in Nizamuddin East, New Delhi, about the alleged large-scale sale of counterfeit cosmetics on Gheekanta Road.
Acting on the information, Darshak Parekh, proprietor of Parekh Intellectual Services, joined an SOG Crime Branch team led by PSI A.A. Vyas to conduct raids in the presence of panch witnesses.
At My Beauty Central, near Panchbhaini Pol on Gheekanta Road, police seized 775 suspected counterfeit products worth ₹4.44 lakh. The stock included shampoos, creams, developers and masks. The shop is operated by Yash Prabhulal Thakkar, 30, a resident of Bopal.
In a separate raid at Laxmi Beauty Shop, officers recovered 446 suspected duplicate products valued at ₹2.46 lakh. The shop is operated by Rishabh Rajendrabhai Agrawal, 29, who lives in Bapunagar.
Police are preparing samples of the seized products for laboratory testing.

Mumbai’s Crawford Market Emerges as Alleged Supply Source
During questioning, Thakkar reportedly told investigators that he procured the stock from Dineshbhai, owner of Navya Enterprises in Mumbai’s Crawford Market. The goods were allegedly transported through Yash Transport in Kalbadevi.
Agrawal reportedly told police that he personally purchased the products from Vijaybhai, owner of R.K. Beauty, also located in Crawford Market.
Naranpura Link Under Investigation
Investigators also found that both shops allegedly received deliveries of the suspected counterfeit cosmetics on Activa scooters from Laxmanbhai, a salesman at Krishna Enterprises in Naranpura.
The products were allegedly sold individually to customers in the local market.
Police are investigating the alleged supply chain, while laboratory tests are expected to help establish whether the seized cosmetics are counterfeit.
