A family dispute over a minor's behaviour turned fatal in Ahmedabad's Vastral area on Monday night, after a teenager allegedly stabbed his uncle and two others before the injured uncle retaliated, killing him.
The incident occurred near Indiranagar Tekra, where the uncle had reprimanded his minor nephew for making noise and joking around in a public ground while sitting in a pedal rickshaw.
Ramol police have registered cross-complaints against the two sides for murder and attempt to murder, among other charges, and launched an investigation.
Dispute Turns Violent
According to the police complaint, Dinesh Devipujak and his wife, Puja, were sitting in a public ground near Indiranagar Tekra, close to Vastral's Ratanpura village, on the night of October 12.
Their minor nephew, Vishal, was with his friends Vijay and Vishwas, making noise and joking around while sitting in a pedal rickshaw. When Dineshbhai reprimanded him, Vishal allegedly became enraged, fetched a knife from the nearby mound and stabbed his uncle in the left side of his abdomen.
He also allegedly attacked his aunt, Pujaben, injuring her in the waist, and Sunil alias Posco Suresh Devipujak, who sustained an injury to his chest.
Injured Uncle Retaliates
During the altercation, Dineshbhai, despite being seriously injured, allegedly wrested the knife from Vishal and stabbed him below the armpit and in the waist.
Vishal collapsed with serious injuries. All four injured people were taken by ambulance to Civil Hospital in Asarwa, where doctors declared the teenager dead.
Based on a complaint filed by the deceased boy's sister, police registered a murder case against Dineshbhai. A separate complaint filed by Pujaben led to a case against Vishal for attempted murder and other offences.
Police are investigating the circumstances that led to the fatal confrontation.
Teen Had Lived With Uncle Since Childhood
Vishal had lived with Dineshbhai since childhood. After his father's death, his mother remarried elsewhere, and his uncle took responsibility for raising him.
However, according to the account provided, Vishal had been living separately from his uncle for the past three months.
The confrontation on Monday night, which began with a reprimand over joking around in a public place, ended with the teenager dead and several others injured.
