Ahmedabad Crime Branch Nabs Rajasthan Murder Accused After 24 Years

Ahmedabad Crime Branch arrested Dinesh Desai from Vejalpur after he allegedly evaded arrest for 24 years in a 2002 murder case in Rajasthan’s Pali district.

Murder Over Family Property Dispute

According to the Ahmedabad Crime Branch, the case dates back to 2002, when a family property dispute was underway in Dungli village under the jurisdiction of Sadri police station in Pali district.

Police allege that Desai and his associates plotted to kill Dalaram Nai. When Nai was travelling on a motorcycle, a car allegedly rammed into him from behind, resulting in his death.

Three other accused in the case were arrested earlier, while Desai remained absconding for nearly 24 years.

From Banaskantha To Ahmedabad

After the alleged murder, Desai reportedly fled to his native Kankrej in Banaskantha. When police began searching for him there, he moved to Ahmedabad.

According to the Crime Branch, he stayed in areas including Sanand and Vejalpur while concealing his identity. He reportedly changed residences several times in Vejalpur to avoid detection.

Living As Land Broker In Vejalpur

During a drive to trace long-pending wanted accused from Gujarat and other states, the Crime Branch received information that Desai was living with his family at Sagar Samrat Flats in Vejalpur.

Police said he had been living there under an assumed identity and was working as a land broker.

Acting on the information, the Crime Branch raided the premises and arrested him. Further legal proceedings have been initiated in connection with the Rajasthan murder case.
