Ahmedabad Class 4 Student Allegedly Hit With Ruler Over 'I Love You' Note; Teacher, Principal Booked

A Class 4 student at a private English-medium school in Ahmedabad's CTM area was allegedly hit with a ruler by his teacher and the school principal after he handed a note reading “I love you” to a female classmate, police said.

The student's parents subsequently approached Ramol Police Station, following which a case was registered against the teacher and principal under provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act.

Student Allegedly Hit After Note Found

According to the complaint, the nine-year-old boy, who lives with his parents in Ramol, handed the note to a female classmate while he was at school on September 19.

The note was later found in the classroom and came to the attention of the teacher. The teacher questioned the child about it and allegedly reprimanded him.

During the incident, the teacher and school principal allegedly struck the boy on his hand with a ruler.

Child Returned Home Upset

After returning home, the child reportedly went into his room and began crying.

When his mother asked him what had happened, he allegedly told her that the teacher and principal had reprimanded and beaten him over the note.

The parents subsequently contacted Ramol Police and lodged a complaint against the school authorities.

Police Begin Investigation

Ramol Police have registered a case against the teacher and principal under relevant provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act and have begun an investigation.

Police are examining the circumstances of the incident and the allegations made by the student's parents.
